New coronavirus in frozen shrimp packaging

This afternoon, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council held a press conference to introduce relevant information on preventing the risk of imported epidemic situation and strengthening the supervision of imported cold chain food.
At the meeting, novel coronavirus pneumonia was imported by Bi Kexin, director general of the import and export food safety bureau of the Customs General Administration. In order to prevent the risk of imported new cold chain foods from imported new crown pneumonia, the national customs launched a new crown virus risk test for imported cold chain foods. As of 24:00 yesterday, 227934 samples were sampled and tested by the national customs, including 43964 product samples, 147568 internal and external packaging samples and 36402 environmental samples. Among the above samples, on July 3, Dalian Customs detected the nucleic acid positive of NCV from one sample of the inner wall of frozen South American white shrimp produced by industrial pesquera Santa Priscilla S.A (Registration No. 24887) and three outer packaging samples of frozen South American white shrimp produced by empacereci S.A (Registration No. 681) of Ecuador. On the same day, Xiamen Customs detected the nucleic acid positive of NCV from two outer packaging samples of frozen South American white shrimp produced by empacadora del Pacifico Sociedad Anonima edpaciif S.A. (Registration No. 654). The results of NCV nucleic acid detection of frozen South white shrimp and inner packaging samples of the above enterprises were all negative, while the other 227928 samples were all negative.
He revealed that the positive samples were analyzed by nucleic acid sequence and judged by experts. The test results showed that the container environment and the outer packaging of the products of three enterprises in Ecuador were at risk of being contaminated by new coronavirus. Experts believe that the detection results do not represent infectious, but reflect the food safety management system of relevant enterprises is not in place.
In order to protect the health of consumers, the General Administration of Customs has decided to suspend the registration qualification of the above-mentioned three Ecuadorian enterprises in China, suspend the import of the products of the above-mentioned three enterprises, and take measures to return and destroy the temporarily detained goods. The General Administration of Customs has informed the competent departments of the Ecuadorian government of the relevant information, and asked them to investigate the relevant issues and give feedback to the Chinese side as soon as possible. Novel coronavirus pneumonia and food safety guidelines for food enterprises are also formulated by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and WHO. The food safety management system should be improved, and safety, health management and staff protection in production, processing and transportation should be strengthened, so as to ensure the safety of food exported to China.
In the next step, the General Administration of Customs will further strengthen the source control of imported cold chain food, strictly enforce port inspection and quarantine, and ensure the safety of imported and exported food.
