Lianhua Qingwen has inhibitory effect

According to the latest research by Zhong Nanshan, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, Lianhuaqingwen has shown the anti coronavirus effect in vitro.
A novel coronavirus has been reported in the related paper. It has antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects on new coronavirus. “Lianhuaqingwen exerts anti-viral and anti-inflammatory activity against novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)” has been received by the Journal of pharmacological research (Pharmacological Pharmacological).
The authors include Zhong Nanshan, director of the State Key Laboratory of respiratory diseases, Guangzhou Medical University, and Yang Zifeng, a researcher.
As a traditional Chinese medicine, Lianhuaqingwen has broad-spectrum antiviral and immunomodulatory effects on a series of influenza viruses.
Using CPE and plaque reduction experiments, the researchers evaluated the antiviral activity of Lianhuaqingwen against sars-cov-2 in Vero E6 cells. Under transmission electron microscope, we can see the effect of Lianhuaqingwen on the morphology of the virus. The expression of proinflammatory cytokines in Huh-7 cells infected with sars-cov-2 was measured by real-time quantitative PCR.
The results showed that CNDP significantly inhibited the replication of sars-cov-2 in Vero E6 cells at mRNA level, and significantly reduced the production of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF – α, IL-6, CCL-2 / MCP-1 and cxcl-10 / IP-10). In addition, the particle morphology of virus particles in cells was abnormal.
The paper concludes that Lianhuaqingwen can significantly inhibit the replication of sars-cov-2, affect the morphology of the virus and play an anti-inflammatory activity in vitro. This shows that Lianhuaqingwen can resist the virus attack and is expected to be a new strategy to control the disease of covid-19.
